Manipal`s unit opens R&D centre

| Manipal AcuNova, a clinical research and biotech company, has launched the Manipal AcuNova KH Clinical Research Centre in Manipal.

| The centre has been designed to undertake research on generic drugs, new drug delivery systems and new chemical entities. The clinical research services of the company include pre-clinical studies, bio-availability, bio-equivalence, pharmacokinetics and clinical data management.

| Clinical research in areas such as oncology, infectious diseases, endocrinology (diabetes), neurology and dental science will be undertaken.

| Manipal AcuNova is a joint venture between Manipal Education and Medical Group and AcuNova. Manipal AcuNova partners with the University of Minnesota and National Center of Biological Sciences in research. Recently, the centre was inaugurated by Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, CMD, Biocon.

| The company's clinical research clients include Quintiles, Ranbaxy, Biocon and Novartis.
